Who We Are

AaP is a youth focused Community Based Organization in Uganda working with agriculture teachers in secondary schools to enable students to use their classroom knowledge of agriculture into practical agribusiness, agri-entrepreneurship & innovation, helping them to explore Agriculture not only to pass exams, but as a pathway to income generation, self-employment, innovation, and creativity.

So far, our work has reached more than 5,000 young people across 14 schools in Uganda, Kenya and South Sudan. We have so far practically trained 365 students in agribusiness – leading to the  establishment of three agribusiness enterprises actively supplying food produce for the school meals. These groups have so far generated slightly over UGX 18 million in agrifood produce sales.

WHAT WE DO

We work with schools, Teachers, and students to turn Agricultural education into practical skills, and enterprise. Our work is delivered through three interconnected programs:

We use poetry, storytelling and creative expression to mobilize, advocate and engage young people in conversations about food, agriculture, hunger, nutrition, climate, food waste and food security. The clubs give students a creative platform to express ideas, develop confidence and become advocates for stronger and more sustainable food systems. While mobilizing the youth into agriculture, including non agriculture students.

We have Poetry X Hunger Clubs across Uganda, South Sudan and Kenya

We equip young people with practical skills in agribusiness, entrepreneurship, production, value addition, financial literacy and markets. Through hands-on, project-based learning, students move beyond theory and gain the confidence to explore Agriculture as a business, career and pathway to self-employment and income generation.

SCHOOL MEALS PROGRAM

We help create opportunities for young people to participate in and benefit from the school food system by connecting youth agribusiness initiatives to predictable school-meals markets. We also promote food safety and quality assurance through practical support and training for school food handlers.
